One of Alabama's international golfers, Lars Brovold, competed in the World Team Championships in Kauala Lampur, Malaysia.
Brovold played on Norway's three man team last month in the tournament, finishing in 19th place out of 192 (78-72-69-75) as an individual. Norway also finished 19th out of 64 in the team competition.
"It was a great experience," Brovold said. "The golf courses were very nice, and I hope to play in it again next year."
Each team consisted of three players. For Norway, two players qualified and one was picked by the teams coach.
"I didn't play well when we qualified," he said. "Luckily the coach picked me, and I still got to play. The courses out there were pretty tough so I am glad I played well."
He had to go to Norway from Tuscaloosa to meet his team, a trip that took 10 hours. From Norway it took another 13 hours to reach Malaysia. The team had a week to practice and recover from the flight before the tournament started. Among other sights, Brovold was able to see the tallest buidling in the world, which is located in down town Koala Lumpur.
"I enjoyed seeing the sights, but the golf was my favorite part," he said.
