Nick Rousey ended the University of Alabama’s fall season of golf with his fourth top ten finish—out of Alabama’s five fall tournament appearances. Rousey finished at three under par, carding rounds of 69-72-72/213 to finish tenth at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate on Tuesday, October 30.
His freshman teammate, Clint Provost, joined him in the top 20. Provost finished 17th at even par in the final individual standings. He shot 71-68-77/216 on the par 72 course.
Alabama finished 10th among the field of 15 teams to cap a fall season that included three top five team finishes, including one tournament championship and a second and third place finish, out of its five fall appearances. The Tide shot 294-284-295/873. UAB won the team championship, finishing eight under par (856). Auburn was second (857), followed by Ole Miss (858), North Florida (859), host school LSU (862), South Carolina (868), Tulsa (872), Alabama and Southeastern Louisiana (873), Arkansas (874), Vanderbilt (892), Florida State (917), and Mississippi State (942).
“We couldn’t seem to get a fourth score this week,” said Alabama head men’s golf coach Dick Spybey. “So from that standpoint it’s a bit of a disappointing finish to what otherwise has been a very productive fall. We were able to play all eight players that we intended to play. We had three super finishes, so all indications show a bright spring season ahead.“
Three other Tide golfers competed here. Austin Hynson finished tied at 37th (77-71-73/221), Lars Brovold finished tied at 60th (77-73-76/226) and Are Larsen finished 74th (78-86-74/238).
