
Tide Women's Golf Continues Play at SEC Championship

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Alabama women's golf team dropped one spot after shooting a 329 in second round action at the Southeastern Conference Championship tournament on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide slipped to 11th-place in the three-day event with a 36-hole total of 647. Sophomore Darby Sligh was the team's low scorer for the second straight day, posting a second round of 80.
"We just were not able to get anything going today," said UA head coach Betty Palmer. "It was a struggle all day for us. Hopefully we can right the ship and play a solid final round on Sunday."
The other scoring rounds for Alabama on Saturday included an 82 from Carina Sorensen and Anna Strandberg and an 85 by Jenny Bouvin. Mandy Tedder carded an 86 on day two.
Sligh is tied for 34th with a 158, Sorensen is tied for 41st at 160, Strandberg is tied for 46th with a 163, Bouvin is 52nd at 166 and Tedder is 53rd with a 167.
First round leader Tennessee shares the two-round lead in the team competition with Florida at 592. Auburn is third at 596 followed by South Carolina (603), Vanderbilt (607), Georgia (610), Arkansas (613), Kentucky (620), Mississippi State (628), Ole Miss (641), Alabama and LSU (650).
Two-time defending SEC medallist Kristy McPherson of South Carolina fired her second straight sub-par round to maintain a one-shot advantage in individual play. She owns a five-under-par tournament total of 139.
Tournament play at the SEC Championship concludes with a final round of 18 holes on Sunday at the par 72, 6,143-yard University Club of Kentucky "Big Blue" course. The Crimson Tide will be paired with Ole Miss and LSU for the final round of play beginning at 9 a.m. (ET).
