Tide's Brovold Finishes 12th at Mason Rudolph Tournament

KINGSTON SPRINGS, TENN. – University of Alabama senior golfer Lars Brovold shot one over par in Tuesday’s final round of the rain-shortened Mason Rudolph Collegiate to finish 12th overall. Brovold ended up just a stroke out of the top ten after shooting 73 on Monday and 72 on Tuesday on the par 71 Golf Club of Tennessee course.
Heavy rains shortened Vanderbilt’s tournament from 54 to 36 holes, canceling Monday’s morning round. UAB, which had an 11-under-par lead after the first round won the team championship, shooting 273-290/563. Texas A&M finished second (577), followed by South Carolina (580), Vanderbilt (584), Ole Miss (586), Kentucky (589), LSU, Baylor and South Carolina in a three-way tie at 7th (590), Georgia State (595), Charleston and Florida State (598), Furman and Rhode Island (600), at 15th Alabama (296-309/605), Virginia (606), North Florida (618) and Navy (622).
UAB’s Chris Cousins and Texas A&M’s Stephen Reed tied for first place at six-under-par (136). Cousins shot 67-69 and Reed 71-65.
Alabama’s play was led by Brovold’s 12th place finish. Clint Provost finished tied at 49th (72-79/151), Daniel Creel tied at 53rd (75-77/152), Stewart Whitt tied at 72nd (76-81/157) and Sean Szerencsits finished 87th (78-87/165).
Next up for the Crimson Tide is the October 3-5 Franklin Street Trust Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
