
Alabama Women?s Golf Wraps Up Collegiate Championships

Knoxville, Tenn. ?? The Alabama women’s golf team shot a final round score of 300 (+16) to finish in 10th place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships. The Tide posted an overall score of +37 at the par-71, 5,932 yard Cherokee Country Club.
Kathleen Ekey concluded play with a Top-5 finish. The junior placed fifth overall with a 1-over 214. Ekey shot a 5-over 76 and sank four birdies on the round to be the top finisher for the Tide in the championship.
Helena Bloomberg capped her tournament with a final round score of 3-over 74 to finish with an overall three-round score of 12-over 225 to finish tied for 43rd. Bloomberg drilled two birdies to improve two strokes on the day.
Sarah Sturm finished the championship with an 11-over 224. Sturm capped of the championship with a final round score of 4-over 75. Sturm sank two birdies on the final round to finish tied for 37th.
Courtney Harter tallied a 4-over 75 in her final of action. Harter drilled three birdies to improve three spots in the standing, tying for 53rd with a three-round total of 14-over 227.
Camilla Lennarth improved a place by finishing 83nd overall with a total score of 24-over 237. Lennarth posted a final round score of 8-over 79 and sank a birdie on the par-5 15th.
Playing as an individual, junior Laura Goodwin finished the tournament tied for 65th with a total score of 17-over 230. Goodwin fired a final round score of 5-over 76 and used a birdie on the par-5 11th to improve six places in the overall standings.
The University of Florida wrapped up top honors with a final team score of 13-over 865. Florida’s Sandra Gal won the individual title with a playoff victory over Cydney Clanton of Auburn. Gal finished the championship with an overall score of 3-under 210 and tallied a 1-under 70 in the final round.
The Tide will continue play on October 26 at the UA Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate. The tournament will be held at the North River Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa.
