TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama Rowing is taking both varsity and novice crews to this weekend's Head of the Tennessee Regatta in Oakridge, Tenn.
The Tide's varsity is sending two 8+ crews and three 4+ boats to the event after those crews had last weekend off from competition.
"I think the ladies who did not row at the Head of the Charles last weekend are hungry to get back on the water, hungry to compete," head coach Larry Davis said. "While we've been to Oak Ridge in the past, they have set up a whole new course, so none of the teams competing this weekend will have any type of `home course' advantage."
The varsity crew that competed at last weekend's Head of the Charles Regatta will have the weekend off from competition after coming home from Cambridge, Mass. with a 10th place finish.
The Crimson Tide's novices will be racing for the second time this season and the second weekend in a row after winning gold and silver at the Hobbs Island Regatta last Saturday. The level of competition will be higher this weekend, upping the challenge for the Tide's newcomers.
