BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama senior goalkeeper Karen Lansden has been chosen as a member of the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team as announced by the conference office. The Community Service Team selects one member from each team in the conference who most exemplifies what community service means.
"It speaks to how well rounded she is," head coach Todd Bramble said. "She is not just a great goalkeeper and student but gives a lot of herself to the community as well. I am proud to have that type of representation for our program."
Lansden, a junior from Houston, Texas has been involved extensively in supporting the Tuscaloosa Community for most of her days at the Capstone. She has been a weekly volunteer at Arcadia Elementary School and has helped with field trips and PTA fundraising.
Additionally, Landsen was involved with the Tuscaloosa YMCA with soccer clinics, and also pledged her time to help with the UA Halloween Extravaganza. Lansden also took a summer mission trip to Mexico. Landsen will graduate in May with a bachelors and masters degree in economics.
On the field Lansden played in four matches while making one start. Lansden recorded a shutout in her lone start by making two saves en route to blanking over Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 21. -UA-
