TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - On just the second day of class at the University of Alabama the gymnastics team welcomed children from the RISE School into the practice gym for some fun.
Kim Potter, wife of Alabama women's golf coach Mic Potter, brought her class to Frances Smith Practice Facility where the student enjoyed the pits, trampolines and climbing rope. In keeping with the Olympic spirit of the week, when the afternoon visit drew to an end, closing ceremonies were held with each RISE student getting a medal.
"It was a fun afternoon, and certainly a good way to break up the pace of getting the school year underway," Alabama head coach Sarah Patterson said. "I think the RISE students had a great time and I know our ladies enjoyed trying to keep up with them. The joy these children bring is truly infectious."
Alabama started classes Wednesday and the first official practice gets underway September 11.
