TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama gymnasts along with other University of Alabama student-athletes welcomed local children to Coleman Coliseum Tuesday evening for the Athletics Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee annual Project AngelTree event.
The student-athletes donated money, shopped for and wrapped up Christmas gifts for more than 50 local children, with all the Crimson Tide's teams participating in the outreach project.
"It means a lot to us to be able to do this for children in the Tuscaloosa community," senior Ashley Priess, a member of SAAC's executive committee said. "Tonight is about helping someone have a better Christmas."
Tuesday's event marked the 20th consecutive year that Alabama Athletics has participated in Project AngelTree, making it one of the longest tenured groups in the state.
