How did you begin running distance?
"I joined cross country when I was a freshman in high school and have enjoyed it ever since. At first, it was to help me stay conditioned for competitive soccer but it quickly turned out to be my main passion and the sport I focused on. I've loved running distance since day one."
What inspired you to come to the University of Alabama?
"I am beyond blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to run and be a part of the University of Alabama's track program. The coaches, team, facilities, campus, and all of the other incredible, first class aspects the University of Alabama offers inspired me to come. It was an easy decision."
What is the biggest difference between last year and this year?
"The biggest difference is not being called a freshman anymore and already being familiar with the routine of practices. I also have a better understanding of campus from freshman year, which has helped a lot, too."
Are there any ways you mentor the freshman who joined the team this year?
"The freshmen are all so awesome. So far the whole team has helped in any way they can to answer their questions and the transition to college."
What goals do you have for this year?
"My main goal is to work as hard as I can to help the team have as much success as possible this year."
What is your biggest accomplishment on the track or the course you've had thus far in your career?
"Every race I have run in an Alabama uniform is such a tremendous honor and accomplishment. Last year, running the 1,500-meter race on the track and lowering my time was an accomplishment for me. Also, running with such talented and hard working teammates by my side to train and sometimes race with has been a remarkable accomplishment in itself."
What is a piece of advice you would give young runners?
"Always do everything in your ability to be the very best you can be every single day. But listen to your body and your coaches. They truly know what is best. There will be ups and downs but they will only make you a stronger individual and athlete. Most importantly, have fun and embrace every moment. The friendships and memories you make are irreplaceable. Running is such an amazing sport on and off the track."
How many times have you received a funny look when you tell people you area distance runner and how do you respond?
"Definitely, too many times to count. I usually respond with agreeing it does sound crazy and then talking about how much I love it."
If you could try any event besides distance, what track event would it be?
"That's a tough one. I would have to go with pole vault, though. That event really amazes me."
