TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Following their performances at the Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 26, the Alabama men's and women's cross country squads held onto their South Region rankings from last week in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings. The women remained second, where they have been since the preseason, while the men checked in at 11th.
Competing for the first time since Sept. 5, the women's team finished second behind 28th-ranked Oklahoma State and the men's team took fifth on Saturday at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.
Redshirt freshman Rachael Reddy won her second consecutive race, recording a 6k time of 21:02.30 for the individual title. Senior Katelyn Greenleaf (21:09.30) crossed the finish line second, and Hannah Waggoner also posted a top-10 finish, placing seventh with her time of 21:29.80. On the men's side, junior Antibahs Kosgei was the Tide's top finisher once again. He completed the 8k course in 25:08.90 to finish seventh overall.
Both teams will be away from competition until Friday, Oct. 16, when the Harry Pritchett Running Park hosts the annual Crimson Classic. The meet will serve as the team's Power of Pink event to help generate awareness for the early detection and prevention of the disease.
