Alabama Gymnast Keely McNeer Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

The Mississippi native is Alabama gymnastics' 20th NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama gymnastics All-American and Academic All-American Keely McNeer earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship it was announced this week, becoming the 20th Crimson Tide gymnast to earn the prestigious scholarship.
McNeer is finishing her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering while carrying a 4.0 grade point average and is on track for her ultimate goal of medical school.
Alabama gymnastics' total of 20 NCAA scholarships is the most among all gymnastics programs. Tide gymnasts have also earned nine of the scholarships since 2010.
A native of Madison, Miss., McNeer was one of three Crimson Tide student-athletes to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in the winter selection period, joining swimmers Connor Oslin and Anton McKee, making Alabama the only Division I school to earn three scholarships from the winter sports.
Overall, Alabama has earned four NCAA postgraduate scholarships during the 2016-17 fall and winter selection periods, with SEC Volleyball Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year Krystal Rivers earning one earlier in the academic year. The Crimson Tide has earned 16 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships over the past four years with the 2017 spring scholarships still to be awarded.
The one-time non-renewable scholarships of $7,500 are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season (fall, winter and spring). Â Each sports season there are 29 scholarships available for both men and women for use in an accredited graduate program.
