
Alabama Men’s Golf Remains in First After Two Rounds of the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational

Junior Davis Riley is the clubhouse leader at 7-under par entering Sunday’s final round
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – The No. 19 Alabama men's golf team, behind the play of junior Davis Riley, owns a three-stroke lead after 36 holes of the Olympia Fields Country Club/Fighting Illini Invitational. The Crimson Tide carded back-to-back rounds of even par 280 on Friday and Saturday, and leads the 15-team field with a team total of 560 coming into Sunday's final round.
Riley holds the individual overall lead after carding a career-low 36-hole total of 7-under par 133. The Hattiesburg, Miss., native equaled his career low in Friday's first round with a 4-under 66 and followed that with a 3-under 67 on Saturday. He now has recorded four consecutive rounds in the 60s and will be aiming for his first career tournament medalist honor on Sunday.
Riley hold a one-stroke lead over Illinois' Nick Hardy and UNLV's Ben Shintaro, who are tied for second at 6-under 134. Texas A&M's Josh Gliege is in fourth with a 136.
Senior Jonathan Hardee has also recorded back-to-back sub-70 rounds, following his 2-under par 68 on Saturday. The Greer, S.C., native comes into the final round of play in a tie for fifth overall with a 3-under par 137 (69-68).
Freshman Davis Shore is in a tie for 32nd at 5-over par 145 (72-73) on the par-70, 7,353-yard Olympia Fields Country Club North Course. Senior Lee Hodges (73-73) and sophomore Josh Sedeno (74-72) are tied for 37th at 6-over par 146 to round out the Alabama golfers.
Alabama owns a three-stroke lead over No. 4 Baylor (563) heading into Sunday's final round of play. Sixth-ranked Texas A&M (566) is in third, followed by No. 1 Oklahoma State (567) and No. 20 Florida State (567) to round out the top five teams. In all, the 15-team field features 10 teams ranked among the top 20 in the nation.
The Crimson Tide will tee off its second round at 8:30 a.m. CT off Hole No. 1 and will be paired alongside Baylor and Texas A&M. Live scoring can be found throughout the final round on Golfstat.com.
