Alabama Women’s Golf to Compete in Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

Crimson Tide returns to Finley Golf Course after a year hiatus from the tournament starting Friday
TUSCALOOSA Ala. – In what will be another strong test for the University of Alabama women's golf team, the Crimson Tide head to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 11-13 at the 6,379-yard, par 72 Finley Golf Course.
Alabama will be paired with Ohio State and Virginia for the first round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. The trio will start off No. 1 with the first group teeing off at 8:54 a.m. CT Friday.
Tournament Info
- The 18-team field contains seven teams ranked among the top-25 in the nation and 14 ranked among the top 50 in the nation, according to the latest Golfweek rankings.
- The 2019 field includes No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 12 Duke, No. 16 Alabama, No. 17 Charlotte, No. 19 Michigan State, No. 28 Clemson, No. 30 Furman, No. 37 Michigan, No. 38 Kentucky, No. 40 North Carolina, No. 43 Virginia, No. 49 Ohio State, NC State, Rollins, Tulane and UNCW.
- Teams will play a total of 54 holes, 18 each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the par-72, 6,379-yard course.
About Alabama
- Alabama's starting five include senior Kenzie Wright, juniors Polly Mack and Angelica Moresco, and freshmen Caroline Curtis and Emilie Øverås.
- In two tournaments this season, the Crimson Tide have turned in an eighth place showing (295-294-292/881) at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 16-18), along with a runner-up finish (284-282-281/847) at the Schooner Fall Classic (Sept. 27-29).
- Kenzie Wright has led the team by shooting four rounds under par this season. Polly Mack follows closely with three rounds under, and both Caroline Curtis and Angelica Moresco have shot two.
- Last time out at the Schooner Fall Classic, junior duo Polly Mack and Angelica Moresco tied for 16th, both finishing the tournament at 1-over par 211. Mack (69-72-70) recorded the second most pars of any player in the field (40), while Moresco (72-71-68) surged up the leaderboard thanks to four birdies in the final round.
- Two years ago, Alabama (285-279-270/834) took home second place behind Duke (283-271-279/833), which finished at 31-under at the 2017 Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 13-15, 2017).
- The Crimson Tide shot 13-under par 270 in the final round to finish the tournament at 30-under par 834.
- Now junior, Angelica Moresco, (72-73-70/215) was 2-under par for the final round to finish in a tie for 26th place at 1-under par as a freshman.
Next Up
Following the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, the Crimson Tide will be back in North Carolina on Oct. 25-27 when they travel to Wilmington, N.C. for the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall.
