ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 28/30 Alabama men's golf team will begin play at the 2019 NCAA Men's Golf Athens Regional on Monday morning. The Crimson Tide will tee off the three-day, 54-hole regional at 8 a.m. ET (7 a.m. CT) off Hole No. 10 and will be paired alongside No. 20 Liberty and No. 33 Tennessee in first-round action.
This year's regional will be held on May 13-15 in Athens, Ga., at the par 71, 7,253-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.
Alabama's lineup for the tournament will be the same as it has been over the last few tournaments, including when UA took home the Shoal Creek Invitational title at the end of April. Sophomore Wilson Furr will be competing in the top slot again after he won his first collegiate medalist honors and led the Crimson Tide to victory at Shoal Creek. Furr finished that tournament with a season-best 7-under par 209 (72-68-69) and led three other Alabama golfers to top-10 finishes. He enters regional play averaging 72.26 strokes per round and owns a +0.94 average vs. par.
Joining Furr will be freshman Prescott Butler, who had a season-best fourth-place finish at the Shoal Creek event, junior Josh Sedeno and freshman Frankie Capan III. Sophomore Jake DeZoort rounds out the Crimson Tide starting five, while senior Alex Green is also on the trip as Alabama's alternate player.

ALABAMA AT THE NCAA REGIONALS: With this year's selection, the Crimson Tide is participating in its 15th consecutive NCAA Regional under head coach Jay Seawell, and the 23rd appearance overall. Alabama has won an NCAA Regional four times, all of which came during a six-year stretch from 2009-14. The team claimed the 2009 NCAA Galloway (N.J.) Regional, the 2012 NCAA Athens (Ga.) Regional, the 2013 NCAA Baton Rouge (La.) Regional and the 2014 NCAA Auburn (Ala.) Regional. Last year, the Crimson Tide finished in a tie for third at the Washington Regional to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships. UA went on to finish national runners-up.
The Crimson Tide has advanced to nationals 11 times under head coach Jay Seawell, including seven of the last eight seasons. Alabama has won the national championship twice (2013 and 2014) and has finished runner up on two occasions (2012 and 2018).
