TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing has announced its schedule for the 2019-20 season. It includes two events in the fall followed by six in the spring, for a total of eight events before the Big 12 Conference Championships on May 17 in Austin, Texas.
The Crimson Tide begins its schedule in Oklahoma City, Okla., Oct. 5-6, with the Head of the Oklahoma. The fall season will wrap up at the Head of the Hooch, Nov. 2-3, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Alabama will host Eastern Michigan and Southern Methodist University on February 29 to begin its spring season before traveling to Oak Ridge, Tenn. for the Cardinal Invitational, March 14-15.
The Tide returns to Tuscaloosa for its second and final home event on March 21, as it hosts Tennessee before traveling to Sarasota, Fla. (April 3-4), Clemson, S.C. (April 18-19), and Austin, Texas (April 25). Alabama returns to Austin, May 17, for the Big 12 Conference Championships.
Alabama looks to have another strong performance at the Big 12s, capturing second place in 2019 – the best finish in program history. The Tide was one of only two schools to medal in every race, winning two silver medals (Third Varsity 4+, Third Varsity 8+, First Varsity 4+) and three bronze medals (Second Varsity 4+, Second Varsity 8+, First Varsity 8+).
Head coach Glenn Putyrae enters his second year at Alabama, who was named 2019 Big 12 Coach of the Year. This was a first-time honor for the Crimson Tide since joining the conference as an affiliate member in 2015.
