Standout Prep Golfer Jones Free Signs NLI to Join the Alabama Men’s Golf Program in 2021

Free, a two-time all-state honoree, helped lead Morgan Academy to back-to-back state titles to highlight an outstanding prep career
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Alabama men's golf head coach Jay Seawell announced on Thursday that Jones Free, a standout golfer from Selma, Ala., who attended Morgan Academy, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Crimson Tide program for the 2021-22 season.
"We are very excited to have someone of Jones' character and ability join our program," Seawell said. "He is a winner and he has certainly proven that he is comfortable in pressure situations. We are looking forward to having him as a part of our program."

- Helped lead Morgan Academy to back-to-back state championships in 2018 and 2019
- A two-time all-state honoree by the Alabama Golf Association, earning first team honors in 2019 and second team recognition in 2020
- Ranked as the No. 7 golfer in the state of Alabama
- Collected seven tournament wins during the 2018-19 season, including capturing medalist honors at the 2019 Future Masters Championship and the AISA State High School Championship
- Was the low medalist for the 2019 Alabama state championship, finishing at 2-under par in a field of 71 golfers
- Captured a win at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's (SJGT) Wynlakes Shootout
- Member of the victorious Team Alabama squad that won the 2019 Southern Junior Cup
- Finished in seventh overall at the Alabama Boys State Junior and has multiple SJGT finishes
