Alabama Cross Country Duo Earns SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Crimson Tide duo of Victor Kiprop and Hilda Olemomoi led Alabama cross country to its second sweep of the season, earning them Southeastern Conference weekly honors.

Kiprop was named SEC Runner of the Week after winning his second consecutive title at the North Alabama Showcase, leading the UA men to their second Showcase win in as many years and their second team win of the season. In her Crimson Tide debut, Olemomoi finished second at the Showcase, leading the UA women to the team title and earning SEC Freshman of the Year accolades.

SEC Men's Runner of the Week: Victor Kiprop

Victor Kiprop won the North Alabama Showcase for the second year in a row
He led the Crimson Tide to its second-consecutive Showcase victory
Kiprop ran a 23:18.30 to finish more than seven seconds ahead of the field over the 8-kilometer course
He paced Alabama to 74 points and the win

SEC Women's Freshman of the Week: Hilda Olemomoi

Hilda Olemomoi ran a 16:30.02 at the North Alabama Showcase over the 5-kilometer course to take second place
Olemomoi clinched the team win, pacing the Crimson Tide to 73 points
Olemomoi finished more than three seconds ahead the third place finisher and well ahead of the rest of the field
