
Former Alabama Gymnast Shallon Olsen Aids Team Canada to Fifth-Place Finish in Women’s Team Final at Paris Olympics

PARIS – After earning its first women's team qualification in 12 years, Team Canada and former Alabama gymnast Shallon Olsen finished fifth in the women's team final behind a team score of 162.432.
Competing as anchor on Canada's vault rotation, Olsen registered a monster 14.400 score to propel Canada to a 41.866 rotation score. Canada's team score on vault was the third-highest on the apparatus, behind only podium medalists United States (gold, 44.100) and Brazil (bronze, 42.366).
Olsen's 14.400 vault score was the highest of the evening by a Canadian gymnast on any apparatus as the Alabama grad became one of only five gymnasts on vault to reach the 14.400-threshold (Rebeca Andrade | Brazil | 15.100; Simone Biles | USA | 14.900; Jade Carey | USA | 14.800; Olsen | Canada | 14.400; Jordan Chiles | USA | 14.400).
