The linebacker led the Tide with nine tackles in a 56-23 win at Mississippi State
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama linebacker Xavier Griffin was named the Shaun Alexander Award Player of the Week, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday morning.
The weekly recognition from the Alexander is the first of the year for Griffin and the second for UA this season.

- Came off the bench to post a team-high nine tackles in Starkville
- Recorded solo tackles on six on his nine stops and also tallied a quarterback hurry
- Helped the Tide to a season-high 5.0 sacks, registering one for himself (-5 yards)
