
Former Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban Selected to 2026 SEC Football Legends Class

Saban led the Crimson Tide to six national championships during his time in Tuscaloosa
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban was selected to represent The University of Alabama as part of the Southeastern Conference Football Legends Class of 2026, the league office announced Thursday. Saban is one of 16 former players or coaches who excelled on the gridiron and helped write the rich history of the sport at their respective institutions.
The class will be honored at the 2026 SEC Football "Weekend of Champions" Dec. 4-5 in Atlanta, Ga., highlighted by the annual SEC Legends Celebration on Friday, Dec. 4 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. The group will also be recognized prior to the SEC Football Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 5.

- One of the greatest coaches in college football history, Saban made his mark on the sport at various stops but none more important than at The University of Alabama
- Won nine Southeastern Conference championships and six national titles across 17 seasons as head coach of the Crimson Tide
- Owned a 206-29 (.877) record in Tuscaloosa and advanced his teams to a bowl game in each of his 17 seasons at the Capstone
- Garnered coach of the year honors eight times nationally and four times from the SEC while at UA
- Produced 58 first team All-Americans and 60 national awards for the Crimson Tide, including four Heisman Trophy winners
- Finished his collegiate head coaching career with an NCAA-leading seven national championships, surpassing Paul "Bear" Bryant's mark
- Totaled 297 career victories across 28 seasons as a collegiate head coach, including stops at Toledo, Michigan State, LSU and Alabama
