COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Alabama men's tennis team (12-17) fell in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament after dropping a 4-2 decision to No. 22 Vanderbilt (17-11).

Doubles action highlighted the Tide in the loss as UA paced all three courts, including winning spots two and three for the opening point. Additionally, Vit Kalina captured a win in singles off a two-set victory.

"Plenty of growth, challenging moments and success this season from this new-look team. Five freshmen in the lineup with a sophomore, junior and senior. I'm proud of their willingness to learn, push themselves, be uncomfortable and be rewarded with notable improvement. They are a very solid group with great character and an ability to deliver and take punches. There's lots to build on and plenty to be excited about moving forward. We bid farewell and good luck to our lone senior Carlos (Gimenez Perez) and we will start the next chapter after finals wrap up in a couple of weeks."

Kalina and Andrii Zimnokh took a 6-0 lead in the tiebreaker at the No. 1 spot before the 11^th ranked team of Nathan Cox and Hoyoung Roh was able to tally a point
