
Wafula’s 1,500-Meter PR Ranks Among Nation’s Best to Lead Alabama

Three Crimson Tide runners moved into UA’s all-time top six while Partrick secured her third consecutive javelin victory
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Alabama track and field's Milicent Wafula highlighted the second day of the Wake Forest Invitational, as her first-place, PR-setting time of 4:09.69 in the women's 1,500m was the seventh fastest nationally this season and the fourth fastest in Crimson Tide history.
On the men's side, Hamdani Benahmed's 3:39.58 run in his 1,500-meter section shortened his PR, moving him to No. 4 all-time at UA and ranking 14th nationally this season. Teammate Jackson Harris moved to No. 6 all-time at Alabama with his 3:41.37 showing in his own 1,500-meter competition.
Before the day was done, the Crimson Tide opened action in Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Memorial. Sophomore javelin thrower Ellie Partrick highlighted the first day of competition in the Swamp as her last attempt of 54.95 meters (180-3) solidified Partrick's third event title in as many meets.
