William Jennings cards a 6-under 64 and is in a tie for second, Alabama in seventh as a team
SEA ISLAND, Ga. – William Jennings carded a 6-under par 64 to lead the No. 17 Alabama men's golf team in the opening round of the 2026 SEC Men's Golf Championships on Wednesday. As a team, the Crimson Tide is in a tie for seventh overall with a team score of 8-under par 272
Jennings will enter the second round two shots back of overall leader Ryder Cowan of Oklahoma. In addition to Jennings' opening round performance, Nick Gross carded a 3-under 67 and is in 16th.
Round One Highlights
- William Jennings' round of 64 marked a career-best 18-hole score and his 12th round of par or better this season
- Jennings recorded eight birdies with the only blemish coming in the form of a double bogey on No. 8
- Nick Gross began his day with back-to-back bogeys before responding with five birdies and 11 pars over his final 16 holes to finish at 3-under par 67, which matches a season-low 18-hole score
- Connor Brown finished the day in a tie for 45th at even par 70, collecting 16 pars to go with one birdie and one bogey
- Jonathan Griz is a shot back at 1-over 71 and in a tie for 52nd
- Brycen Jones rounded out the Tide's starting five carding a 5-over par 75 to end the day in a tie for 76th

- No. 12 Ole Miss (-15) holds the clubhouse lead by one stroke over No. 16 Oklahoma (-14)
- No. 1 Auburn (-11), No. 3 Texas (-11) and No. 4 Florida (-11) are in a three-way tie for third
