
Alabama’s Kriznik and Zimnokh Selected to CSC Academic All-District Team

The Crimson Tide student-athletes were recognized for their performances both in the classroom and on the court
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A pair of Alabama men's tennis players, Matic Kriznik and Andrii Zimnokh, were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Zimnokh picked up his second selection in as many years, while sophomore Kriznik was recognized in his first year of eligibility for the award.
The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the classroom and on the court. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore that holds a 3.50 grade point average while also competing in 70 percent of the institution's dual matches.
Matic Kriznik Notes
- Held a 3.88 GPA during his sophomore year while earning a degree in Management
- NCAA Singles qualifier
- Led Alabama in singles wins with 21
- Ranks third on the team in doubles wins with 19
- Holds a national ranking of No. 92 in singles
- Reached the ITA South Sectional Championships semifinals (tournament concluded in semifinals after qualifiers were announced), securing a berth to the NCAA Championships
- Concluded the fall with a team-leading 9-4 record
- Clinched the team's win over Arkansas and Tennessee State as his win against the Razorbacks was a three-set come-from-behind victory to secure the overall team win for the Tide
- Reached the Round of 32 in doubles at the ITA All-American Championships
- Advanced to the third-place match at the ITA Fall Regional Championships in singles
- Defeated ranked singles players No. 59 Henry Jefferson (Florida), No. 81 Santiago Giamichelle (Georgia), No. 105 Paul Barbier Gazeu (South Carolina), No. 109 Stefano D'Agostino (Ole Miss)
- Captured ranked doubles wins over No. 30 Arda Azkara/William Jansen (Georgia), No. 51 Hamza El Amine/Walid Ahouda (Louisville)
Andrii Zimnokh Notes
- Held a 3.86 GPA during his junior year while earning a degree in Marketing
- Ranked 40th in the latest ITA doubles rankings with teammate Jacob Olar
- Defeated six nationally ranked doubles opponents with five foes ranking in the top 25
- Concluded the season ranked in the top 10 nationally for doubles in five consecutive polls
- Tied for a team-leading 22 doubles wins (10 wins at No. 1)
- Ranks third on team in singles wins
- Captured significant doubles wins over No. 12 Luis Alvarez/Bruno Nhavene (Oklahoma), No. 19 Jack Loutit/Eli Stephenson (Kentucky), No. 22 Henry Jefferson/Tanapatt Nirundorn (Florida), No. 24/25 Billy Blaydes/Freddy Blades (Auburn) twice, No. 51 Hamza El Amine/Walid Ahouda (Louisville), Roberto F.
