
Emma Voelkerding Named to SEC Community Service Team

Voelkerding recognized for her achievements on and off the water
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rower Emma Voelkerding has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced Friday. The SEC Community Service Team recognizes accomplishments of the student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
Emma Voelkerding Notes
- Served in the 1v4+, 2v4+ and 2v8+ boats this season for UA
- Has collected seven first-place finishes throughout Alabama's five regattas this season
- Demonstrated a commitment to community service throughout her time at Alabama, volunteering with multiple organizations across the Tuscaloosa area
- Serves as a weekly mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, visiting University Place to read and engage with a young student whose reading scores have shown notable improvement
- Volunteers with Beyond Barriers Swim, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching children with disabilities how to swim
- Has contributed to Habitat for Humanity builds in the Tuscaloosa community
- A member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Voelkerding has been part of the TIDE MOVES initiative, visiting local elementary schools to promote the values of teamwork, nutrition, and exercise
