
Lokira, Kiprop Open NCAA Outdoor Championships with Podium Finishes in 10,000m

Dismus Lokira (fifth) and Dennis Kipruto (eighth) became the first Crimson Tide duo to earn top-eight finishes in the event since Gilbert Kigen and Vincent Kiprop in 2018
EUGENE, Ore. – Alabama track and field opened the NCAA Outdoor Championships by capturing two podium finishes in the men's 10,000 meters.
Dismus Lokira (fifth | 28:08.49) and Dennis Kipruto (eighth | 28:16.31) each recorded coveted top-eight finishes, while teammate Hudson Hurst (18th | 28:41.87) rounded out the Crimson Tide contingent with a personal-best performance. The feat marked the first time since 2018 that Alabama placed two runners on the podium in the 10,000 meters.
Additionally, two other Crimson Tide student-athletes advanced to Friday's finals. Reigning national champion Samuel Ogazi (44.73) recorded the fastest qualifying time in the 400 meters, as Bismack Kipchirchir's personal-best 8:26.57 in the steeplechase moved him to No. 2 all-time at UA and secured his spot in Friday's final.
