The 2025 UA graduate claimed his second pro tournament victory after downing his opponent in three sets during the finals
OLLERSBACH, Austria – Alabama alum Filip Planinsek recorded his second professional tournament win as he captured the M25 Ollersbach title during the Sparkassee Open on Sunday.
After securing wins in the opening two rounds, Planinsek moved into the championship match following consecutive straight-set wins in the opening two rounds (quarter and semifinals). The 2024 NCAA Singles Champion fought Mathys Erhard through three sets in the finals before ultimately claiming the title (2-6, 7-5, 6-3).
Planinsek earned his first professional title at the M25 Marburg in 2025.
From Filip Planinsek
"It's a very special week. I'm very happy with my performances throughout the whole tournament. It hasn't always been easy this year, but hard work pays off!"
From Head Coach George Husack
"Great effort for Filip today. He had his back up against the wall with Mathys serving for the match, but, as we saw several times while he was at Alabama, Filip has the heart of a lion. He plays his best when the odds are stacked against him. He's a competitor.
"It has been a busy year for Filip and fellow graduate Enzo Aguiard as they both have found their footing professionally and climbed into the 400s. A lot learned for both and a lot gained."
