Kiplagat, Lokira and Plimo Receive Weekly Honors from SEC

The Crimson Tide trio was recognized for their respective performances at the Southern Showcase
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama cross country's Caren Kiplagat, Dismus Lokira and Rodgers Plimo were each awarded weekly honors by the Southeastern Conference, the league office announced Tuesday. Kiplagat was named the Women's Co-Runner of the Week, while Lokira was highlighted as the Men's Co-Runner of the Week. Following his successful collegiate debut, Plimo received Men's Freshman of the Week distinction.
Women's Runner of the Week
- A key factor in the Crimson Tide's team win at the Southern Showcase on Sept. 18
- Turned in a time of 15:41.4 to finish in first place in the women's 5K race
- Surpassed her previous personal best in the 5K while in Huntsville (16:18.8)
Men's Runner of the Week
- Paced the Crimson Tide men, leading Alabama to a team victory at the Southern Showcase
- Set the course record at John Hunt Park, clocking in at 23:08.8 in the men's 8K run
- His time on Sept. 18 broke his previous course record of 23:11.8 set in 2025
Men's Freshman of the Week
- Succeeded mightily in his collegiate debut, recording a time of 23:09.8 to finish second overall at the Southern Showcase
- His time helped secure Alabama's team title in Huntsville, with the Crimson Tide accruing 15 points, 113 points clear of second-place Appalachian State
