No. 11 Alabama Rallies in Final Round to Win Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational

Four out of five UA golfers finished in the top 20 individuals as the Crimson Tide claimed its first team championship of the fall season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 11 Alabama men's golf team carried its first day momentum from Monday's opening 36 holes, using an overall score of even par 840 (274-282-284) to claim the team championship on Tuesday at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab.
The Crimson Tide outlasted the 16-team field that featured seven of the nation's top-10 teams, including No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Arizona State and No. 5 Texas Tech, among others.
Three UA golfers led the way finishing among the top 10 individuals, led by Nick Gross and William Jennings who tied for third overall, while Bailey Sutter tied for ninth place. Miles Eubanks also had a solid showing with a 16th-place finish to help bring home the Tide's first team title of the 2026-27 campaign.

On the team's momentum so far this fall…
"I think the first two tournaments did a lot of good things for us as the guys competed alongside great competition, so I think everybody is getting their feet on the ground, while also bringing back things to work on. We went back to hard work and to try to play winning golf as we were just doing a little bit of this and that which it kept us from winning. I'm proud of the boys because they went to work and did an incredible job of working over the last few days, cleaning up the little things we have learned on the road."
On individual finishes…
"I'm proud of everybody on the team. This was a team win. It was cool when Nick [Gross] came off the 18th green today. He didn't play this time last year, so it was just cool to kind of hug his neck after an incredibly great week. I'm happy for him. He's worked hard and looked like the Nick that I know he wants to be, and that who we know he is. William [Jennings] has been through so much with the with the Walker Cup and all the things that have gone into his great play like how he fought for his teammates today without maybe his best stuff, but he showed a lot of stuff for his teammates of how he battled. Young Bailey [Sutter] did a really good job and I'm proud of him. He didn't play very good early in the round, but he's just such a great competitor, and it was fun to watch him kind of find his way after a bit of a tough start."
Individual Highlights
- Nick Gross (69-69-70) and William Jennings (66-71-71) tied for third overall individually finishing the two-day event at 2-under par 208 to lead the Crimson Tide
- Jennings (-4, 3.89) led the field in par 4 scoring and picked up his ninth top five finish in 16 career tournaments played
- Meanwhile Gross (-6, 4.00) topped all individuals on par 5 scoring to result in a career-best 54-hole tournament total (208) and the best individual finish of his career
- Following back-to-back below par rounds on Monday, freshman Bailey Sutter earned his first-ever top 10 result in just his third collegiate tournament with his ninth-place finish (69-69-73/211)
- Miles Eubanks jumped 11 spots up the leaderboard during round three to finish tied for 16th place at 3-over par 213 (70-73-70) to earn his second top-25 result in three tournaments this season
- Rounding out UA's starting five, Luke Powell ended the final day tied for 57th with a 222 (74-73-75)
Team Highlights
- No. 11 Alabama (E) finished five strokes ahead of second place No. 1 Auburn (+5) and 12 strokes over No. 5 Texas Tech (+12) and No. 14 North Carolina (+12)
- The Tide defeated 13 of the country's top 25 teams, which included seven top 10 programs in the 16-man field
- The tournament win marked head coach Jay Seawell's 63rd career victory at the Capstone
- Alabama finished ranked in the top three in four different team categories including leading the 16-man field in par 3 (+4, 3.07) and par 4 (+19, 4.11) scoring, while ranked third on par 5 scoring (-11, 4.63)
- UA also collected the most birdies in the field with 42
