Donation and Autograph Request Guidelines
The University of Alabama Department of Intercollegiate Athletics receives numerous requests for charitable donations and autographs each year. While we would like to fill each request, the high demand coupled with NCAA regulations, prevents that from occurring. In an effort to support as many philanthropic endeavors as possible, the guidelines below have been implemented. Please note that submission of a request, even if all guidelines are met, does not guarantee the request will be filled.
- An Institutional Memorabilia Request Form must be submitted for all donation and autograph requests. The form should be submitted via email to autographs@ia.ua.edu. Â
- Once the Memorabilia Request Form has been completed and submitted via email, please allow four (4) weeks for review, approval, and shipping. You will be notified via email whether your request has been approved or denied. Please, no follow-up telephone calls.
- Due to the volume of requests received, we are unable to fulfill requests for "personal use" items.
- Student-Athlete autographs and the autographs of coaches for personal use may be filled at institutional events open to the public (e.g. Fan Day, A-Day).
- ONLY requests from entities within the State of Alabama, that adhere to the following will be considered:
- Established 501(c)(3) charitable entities
- Educational institutions
- Military personnel
- Alabama will not approve multiple requests made by an organization within the same calendar year. An organization will be eligible to receive one Alabama item every twelve (12) months.
- Alabama will not consider requests for Tickets to Athletic Events (e.g., suites, press box), Monetary Donations, Athletic Experiences (e.g., coach for a day), and Student-Athlete Autographs.
- Items that have been pre-purchased may not be brought or mailed to the Alabama Athletics Department for autographs. If your request is approved, you will be notified via email and permitted to purchase an item. Basketballs autographed by Coach Oats are available for $75. The purchase price covers the cost of the item, processing, and shipping. Please note that Alabama is not responsible for items brought or mailed to the Athletics Department.
- The NCAA specifically prohibits the approval and fulfillment of requests that directly or indirectly benefit certain entities, individuals, or organizations. As such, Alabama is unable to approve donation or autograph requests that directly or indirectly assist the following:
- High Schools / Two Year Colleges.
- Groups Consisting Solely of High School Aged Individuals.
- Sports Teams or Leagues that Include Participants in Grades 7-12.
- Scholarship Funds and/or Organizations Donating to Scholarship Funds.
- Causes Directly Benefitting an Individual if the Beneficiary is in Grades 7-12 or a Two-Year College.
- Individuals and/or organizations associated with prospects in the sports of football, women’s basketball and men’s basketball.
