One of the top young defensive minds in college football, Christian Robinson was added to Kalen DeBoer's coaching staff in the spring of 2024 to direct outside linebackers.
Alabama - Outside Linebackers (2024-Present)
- The Crimson Tide's outside linebacker unit was led by veteran Que Robinson
- The fifth-year senior provided a presence off the edge, totaling four sacks, good for second on the team, and seven tackles for loss to rank third in that category prior to a season-ending injury at LSU
- Following Que Robinson's exit, Qua Russaw stepped up in a big way, finishing the year with 36 total tackles, including 2.5 for loss and one sack, to go with a pair of quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and two interceptions
Baylor - Inside Linebackers (2023)
- Spent the 2023 season at Baylor where he directed the Bears' inside linebackers
- Middle linebacker Matt Jones led the team in tackles with 82, including 11.5 tackles for loss and three sacks, under Robinson's guidance during that '23 campaign
Auburn - Linebackers/Defensive Run Game Coordinator (2022)
- Worked with linebackers and served as the defensive run game coordinator for Auburn in 2022
- Named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) '35 Under 35' while on the Plains, a list highlighting some of the nation's best up-and-coming coaches under 35
- In his lone year at AU, he helped Owen Pappoe to a team-leading 91 tackles, including three for a loss and two sacks, to go with two forced fumbles
Florida - Linebackers (2018-21)
- Robinson got his start as a full-time coach at Florida from 2018-21, working with the Gators' linebacker corps
- During his four years in Gainesville, UF ranked fourth nationally in sacks, trailing only Alabama, Clemson and Pitt
- The Gators also forced 78 turnovers during Robinson's four-year tenure, a total that was 26th-best in the nation
- Helped Florida to a fourth consecutive bowl berth in 2021
- In '21, the Gators totaled 37 sacks and out-sacked opponents by plus-23 over the course of the year
- Florida also improved defensively in points per game, first-downs allowed, third-down and fourth-down percentage, rushing, passing and total yards allowed
- Individually in '21, Mohamoud Diabate ranked second on the team with 89 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, to go with four quarterback hurries, while Brenton Cox Jr. added 41 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks
- In 2020, Florida's linebackers helped lead the Gators to the SEC Championship and a berth in the Cotton Bowl
- Ventrell Miller led the 2020 team with 88 tackles, including 7.5 for a loss and 3.5 sacks, while Diabate added 69 tackles, including seven for a loss, to go with an interception and two forced fumbles
- Robinson helped mold Florida's defense into one of the nation's top units in 2019 as the Gators finished seventh nationally in scoring defense with an average of 15.5 points allowed, giving up just 23 offensive touchdowns over the course of the season to tie for the fourth-fewest in the FBS
- UF was one of just two FBS teams to hold five opponents without an offensive touchdown in 2019, including three shutouts that year
- The Gators' 2018 unit was led by Jonathan Greenard and David Reese II, with Greenard totaling 52 tackles and leading the SEC with 9.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss to earn first team All-SEC accolades
- Florida's 2018 group ranked 11th in the nation in forced fumbles and takeaways, 12th in fumble recoveries, 17th in passing efficiency defense, 20th in scoring defense and sacks per game, and 33rd in yards per play
- UF also led the nation in fourth-quarter opponent passing efficiency and was second nationally in fourth quarter opponent completion percentage in '18
Additional Coaching Experience
- Served as a graduate assistant at Mississippi State in 2017
- Worked at Ole Miss in a defensive graduate assistant role for the 2015 and 2016 seasons
- Robinson focused on the defensive line in Oxford where the Rebels ranked in the top-three among SEC teams in tackles for loss (8.1/game - 7th in NCAA), interceptions (15 - t-23rd in NCAA) and takeaways (23 - t-38th in NCAA)
- Most notably, Robinson tutored 2015 Hornung Award finalist and first team All-American Robert Nkemdiche, who was taken in the first round (29th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals
- Ole Miss defensive linemen combined for 24 sacks that season, led by a school record-tying 10 from Marquis Haynes
- Got his start in coaching at his alma mater, Georgia, from 2013-14, where he worked as a defensive graduate assistant and quality control assistant
- During his two-year span in Athens, Robinson helped the Bulldogs lead the SEC in turnover margin and rank among the nation's best pass defenses in 2014
Playing Career
- Earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from the University of Georgia in 2012
- As a player for the Bulldogs, Robinson saw time in 51 games with 17 starts at linebacker from 2009-12
- He compiled 159 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks for his career and was a part of back-to-back SEC Eastern Division title teams in 2011 and 2012
