One of the top performers in the player personnel ranks, Bob Welton joined the Alabama staff in May of 2018. Since his arrival in Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide has dominated the recruiting ranks and has seen those efforts translate into continued success on the football field, highlighted by four SEC Championships, four College Football Playoff berths and one CFP title in 2020.
Alabama - Director of Player Personnel (2018-Present)
- Joined the Crimson Tide staff in May of 2018
- Oversees the organization of all recruiting efforts for Alabama football
- Works closely with compliance regarding initial eligibility and assists with coaching clinics, camps and numerous other on-campus events
Nebraska - Director of Recruiting Operations (2018)
- Briefly served as the Huskers' director of recruiting operations during the spring of 2018 prior to joining Alabama
Tennessee - Director of Player Personnel (2013-17)
- Directed the Volunteers' player personnel efforts for five seasons
- Helped UT sign five top-25 recruiting classes, including back-to-back top-10 hauls according to 247Sports
- Inked the seventh-ranked class in 2014 and the nation's No. 4 class a year later in 2015
Cleveland Browns - College Scout (2004-13)
- Spent nine seasons in the National Football League as a college scout for the Browns
- Gained extensive experience in talent evaluation across multiple regions and conferences
High School Experience (1997-2003)
- Served seven years as a high school head coach
- Made his final stop at Coloma High School in Michigan, where he led the team to its first undefeated season and first playoff victory in school history
- Named the Lakeland Conference Coach of the Year and the MHSFCA Region 5 Coach of the Year for his efforts at CHS during the 2003 season
- Prior to Coloma, he led South Haven High School in Michigan for six seasons from 1997-2002
- Revived the SHHS football program and oversaw the rebuilding of the school's stadium

- Earned a bachelor's degree in physical education/health from Adrian College in 1991
- Played quarterback for Adrian and was a part of two MIAA championship teams
- Native of Toledo, Ohio, and was raised in Luna Pier, Mich., graduating from Erie-Mason High School
