Wade LeBlanc Named to ABCA All-South Region Team

TUSCALOOSA -- University of Alabama pitcher Wade LeBlanc added another post-season honor over the weekend as he was named to the 2004 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-South Region squad.
LeBlanc’s inclusion on the All-South Region team makes him eligible for the 2004 ABCA All-America team, which will be announced later this week at the College World Series.
The South Region First Team is made up of 12 players from the SEC and one player from Conference USA. The South Region consists of 34 schools and is one of eight regions that make up the ABCA All-American selection process.
The Lake Charles, La., native finished his outstanding freshman season as he set Alabama freshman records for innings pitched (112.2), strikeouts (98) and complete games (8) and tied the UA freshman record with eight wins on the mound.
In 16 games, including 15 starts, LeBlanc posted an 8-4 record and 2.08 ERA this season. He worked 112 2/3 innings and allowed 87 hits, 37 runs and 26 earned runs, with 26 walks and 98 strikeouts. He also threw eight complete games and pitched three shutouts for the Crimson Tide.
