The most recent addition to the Alabama baseball staff is Allen Rice, who was named Director of Baseball Operations this summer.
Rice will be in charge of the daily operations of the Crimson Tide baseball program, which includes travel and scheduling.
A four-year letterman at Alabama, Rice played second base, third base and was the designated hitter throughout his career. He appeared in 226 games, including 214 starts and batted .284 (220-for-775) with 10 home runs and 115 RBI.
His best season came as a junior, where he hit .333 (61-for-183) in 2004 with one home run and 29 RBI. His most impressive power numbers came in his sophomore season when he slugged seven home runs and added 40 RBI in 2003.
Rice ranks among the Crimson Tide’s all-time leaders in games played, games started, at-bats, runs scored, hits and doubles. He also ranks among the Crimson Tide’s leaders in career SEC games in starts, at-bats, runs scored, hits and doubles.
He is a 2005 graduate of The University of Alabama with a degree in physical education and a master’s degree in sports management.
He is married for the former Mandy Tedder, who is also a UA graduate and former member of the women’s golf team.
