GRAND BAHAMAS ?? The University of Alabama women's basketball team spent its second day on the Grand Bahama Island in the Lucaya Westin Resort. The Tide started the day off with a practice and then capped the off night with a Thanksgiving feast, Junkanoo style.
"Today was a great experience," freshman guard Daleisha Carn said. "The trip has really brought the team together and has helped us bond."
Alabama continued preparations for Eastern Michigan with a 9 a.m. practice at St. George High School. The players and staff then spent the day taking in the sights in the city of Freeport on the beautiful shores of the Grand Bahama Island.
After a film session, the Tide joined the seven other teams in the tournament for a Thanksgiving feast. The Bahamas Basketball Federation and Department of Tourism welcomed the teams, family and staff to an outside banquet dinner.
Captains from each squad, including junior guard Camilla Blands said a few words and thanked the men and women who put the Junkanoo Jam together. After the dinner, local Junkanoo dancers capped off the festivities with a traditional skit.
Alabama will open tournament play tomorrow against Eastern Michigan. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST from St. George High School.
