
Softball Prepares to Cap Off Fall Schedule

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama softball team will wrap up its fall schedule with four games in two days. A total of six games will be played at the Alabama Softball Complex over the course of the weekend. Fall Brawl II will feature Wallace State, Chattanooga State and the reigning Southeastern Conference Western Division champion Crimson Tide.
The festivities will start on Saturday, Oct. 25 with a noon contest between Wallace State and Chattanooga State. Alabama will then play two straight games to cap off the day. The Crimson tide will face the Lady Lions at 2 p.m. and then play the Lady Tigers at 4 p.m.
On Sunday, Oct. 26 the day will once again start with a matchup between Wallace State and Chattanooga State. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. Alabama will then play two straight games, facing Chattanooga State at 1 p.m. and Wallace State at 3 p.m.
Alabama swept its two games during Fall Brawl I, earning a 24-1 win over Shelton State and then ending the day with a 3-2 victory over South Alabama. Amanda Locke pitched every inning for the Crimson Tide and is slated to toe the rubber once again this weekend.
Wallace State had a very successful season in 2008, posting a 68-8 overall record. The Lady Lions recorded a perfect 20-0 in conference play and batted .331 as a team and sported a 1.34 team ERA. Wallace State won the NJCAA Division I title last season and had five All-American selections.
Chattanooga State enters Tuscaloosa after posting a 59-9 overall record and a perfect 20-0 mark in conference play in 2008. The Lady Tigers sported a .339 batting average and a 0.72 team ERA. Chattanooga State placed three players on the NJCAA 1st Team All-American squad and earned its best finish in school history by capturing third at the national tournament.
Alabama will open its regular season at the South Alabama Kickoff Classic. The Crimson Tide will play a total of four games on Feb. 7-8.
