TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Wednesday will mark the 12th intrasquad game for the Alabama baseball team during its fall workout schedule. Wednesday will be the first of three weekday games for the Crimson Tide this week, as the team will play on Thursday and Friday afternoons as well. All three games will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium and admission is free for all games.
During the first four weeks of the fall workouts, the familiar faces to the team have continued to be impressive. Two-time All American and 2011 Gold Glove outfielder, Taylor Dugas, has been one of the bright spots from the cast of returning positions players, along with fellow outfielders Andrew Miller, Hunter Gregory and Jon Kelton. The infield has been highlighted by the play of senior shortstop Jared Reaves and sophomore first baseman Austen Smith, and newcomers Kenny Roberts at second base and AJ Cole at third base.
On the mound, more than 20 players have thrown innings this fall. Returners Trey Pilkington, Charley Sullivan, Adam Windsor and Josh Rosecrans have had solid outings, while incoming freshman Taylor Guilbeau, Justin Kamplain, Jake Hubbard, Spencer Turnbull and Jon Keller have been impressive in their early outings.
This week marks five of seven weeks of fall workouts for the Crimson Tide baseball team. The fall schedule is quickly coming to a close, so now is the time to get out and catch an early look at the 2012 squad and enjoy the early fall weather at "The Joe."
