Postgame Quotes: Alabama vs. Mercer

Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry
Opening statement:
"I am just extremely disappointed in our kids today. They walk around here hearing how great the win was after Nebraska. Everyone from my staff has consistently told them that Mercer is the most important game because it is the next game on the schedule. We still seem to show up today, and not do anything that we are capable of doing. It's inexcusable, and it comes down to maturity, character, competitiveness and just the will to win. We will go twice tomorrow, and continue to grow as a team and get better."
On shooting performance in today's game:
"Unbelievable. At some point you have got to get tough enough to make a play. For Ashley (Williams) to be 0-4 from the foul line is unacceptable. Hannah Cook is 2-20 (from the floor) in the past two games. At some point, you have got to get in the gym and work. It just goes down the list. They made 18 field goals and we made 17. We've got to find a way to make a play. I mean that's just focus when you are missing wide open looks. That just comes down to toughness and focus. We've got to find a way to make plays."
On Mercer's blocks:
"We've just got to credit (Mercer). They do what a lot of people do to us and play a 2-3 zone to make us make shots; we missed shots. I thought we made some poor decisions in terms of driving right in there to our bigs. That's a big win for them and they deserve the credit. (Mercer Head Coach) Susie (Gardner) did a good job coaching and preparing them."
#20 Ashley Williams, Forward
On her shooting performance:
"It really just shows that I need to get in the gym, and I need to focus on making my shots instead of just waiting on the contact to come to me. I just need to finish strong."
On what she needs to work on to improve:
"I need to work on post moves, pretty much. That's where I got all of my shots from, and that's where I am pretty consistent with my shooting average. I just need to stay in the post with my back to the basket and go up strong."
#13 Nikki Hegstetter, Forward
On what she needs to work on to improve:
"I need to work on being consistent and being the same person every day. I have to find out how to do that because it's frustrating right now."
