Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Duke, Baylor

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama women's tennis team will start off the 2014 fall season split between Cary, N.C., at the Fab 4 Invitational and Waco, Texas, at the Baylor Under Armour Kick-Off Event. Both tournaments will run from Friday, Sept. 12, through Sunday, Sept. 14.
Representing the Tide at the Fab 4 Invitational will be juniors Maya Jansen and Natalia Maynetto and sophomores Erin Routliffe and Danielle Spielmann. In Waco, Alabama is represented by seniors Luicelena Perez and Emily Zabor, sophomore Carmen Blanco and freshmen Bennett Dunn and Aryn Greene.
In North Carolina, doubles matches begin at 10 a.m. with reigning national champions Jansen and Routliffe taking on Vladica Babic and Katarina Adamovic of Oklahoma State, while Maynetto and Spielmann match up with the preseason No. 3-ranked doubles team in Monique Albuquerque and Clementina Riobueno of the University of Miami.
Singles matches begin at 2:30 on Friday, with Jansen taking on Hayley Carter of North Carolina, Maynetto facing Cassie Mercer of Virginia, Spielmann coming against Spencer Liang of Florida and Routliffe matching up with Belinda Woolcock also of Florida. The second round of doubles will take place immediately following round one at 11 a.m. on Friday, while the second round of singles will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
In Waco, Friday's matches kick off at 1 p.m. with doubles, followed by singles at 2:30 p.m. Saturday's events kick off at 10 a.m. with singles, then doubles at 2:30 p.m. Sunday will wrap up the event with singles at 9:00 a.m.
