Alabama Women’s Tennis Concludes Day One at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic

The Tide won 10 singles matches and three double matches on day one
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team won 10 singles matches, and three doubles match on day one of the 30th Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Friday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
Four ladies were perfect in singles play, downing two opponents apiece to advance to their respective championship rounds in each draw. No. 37 junior Andie Daniell defeated Magdalini Adaloglou of MSU, 6-3, 6-0, and followed by taking down Madison Westby of USC, 7-6(5), 6-2. Sophomore Luca Fabian dominated Sara Lizariturry of MSU in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, and outlasted Sydney Riley of Clemson, 6-2, 6-4.
Sophomore Ann Selim edged out Alina Zolctareve of South Alabama, 7-6, 6-2, and took down Tate Schroeder of Clemson in a heated battle, 6-3, 2-6, 10-7. Furthermore, sophomore Alba Cortina-Pou moved past Hannah Seizer of Troy, 7-6, 6-2, and Assel Jumamukhambetova of UT Martin, 6-7, 7-6, 10-5.
In the afternoon, the Crimson Tide dominated its competitors in doubles play, knocking off three pairings in Tuscaloosa. The duo of Daniell and Selim and the pairing of sophomore Kimberley Gintrand and freshman Kylie Mouline both shut out their opponents, winning, 6-0, while senior Smith Hinton and sophomore Jacqueline Pelletier outlasted Beltrame/Villiers of Samford, 6-3.
Alabama will continue competition at the Roberta Alison tomorrow with two rounds of doubles and a round of singles starting at 9 a.m. CT.
