Junior Andie Daniell and sophomore Alba Cortina-Pou posted perfect singles records in Tuscaloosa
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team won four singles matches, and five doubles matches on the final day of the 30th Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Sunday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
In doubles, junior Andie Daniell and sophomore Ann Selim won the Erin Routliffe Draw, defeating Weissmann/Van Alphen of USC, 6-1, in round two and downing Braun/Rentoulli of MSU, 6-4, in round three.
Senior Smith Hinton and sophomore Jacqueline Pelletier outlasted Bente/J. Cao of Memphis, 7-6(5), but fell to Andrejszki/Mindiyarova of Lewis University, 7-5, in the final round of the Baili Camino Draw.
In singles play, No. 37 Daniell and sophomore Alba Cortina-Pou posted perfect records to win their respective draws. In the Myke Loomis draw, Daniell took down Katie Poluta of Texas, 6-1, 6-0, and in the Dominique Glinzler draw, Cortina-Pou dominated Michelle McKamey of Indiana, 6-1, 6-1 for the win.
Alabama will open up the spring season on Jan. 13, 2018 to host Jackson State at 10 a.m. and Alabama State at 4 p.m. at the Alabama Tennis Facility.
