Team USA Downs Alabama Stars in Thursday Doubleheader Scrimmage

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The USA Softball Women's National Team faced off against a roster of college stars Thursday night at Rhoads Stadium. Team USA defeated the Alabama Stars in two games, 9-1 and 7-0.
Former Alabama standout and four-time All-American Haylie McCleney started both games in center field for the U.S. squad, scoring twice after earning a hit and a walk. In the bottom of the third inning of game two, Team USA head coach Ken Eriksen substituted out McCleney on defense, allowing the former Crimson Tide player to exit the field to a standing ovation.
In the opposite dugout, four current Alabama athletes played for the Alabama Stars team. Alexis Osorio started in the circle in game one, throwing to familiar battery-mate Reagan Dykes behind the plate. Bailey Hemphill started at first base in game one and entered as a defensive replacement in game two for Tide teammate Caroline Hardy.
