Alabama Women’s Basketball Drops Home Contest to No. 16 Texas A&M, 73-54

Sophomore Jordan Lewis finished with a team-high 17 points, while netting a career-high five three-pointers in the loss
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team fell to No. 16 Texas A&M, 73-54, Thursday night in Coleman Coliseum.
"I'm just really disappointed tonight in our effort," said head coach Kristy Curry. "When I talk about effort, I'm talking about scouting report tendencies. We weren't doing those consistently tonight, so I'm not talking about effort in terms of just running around. I'm talking about the little things with our effort, which are mental, physical and emotional."
The Crimson Tide (13-6, 3-3 SEC) hung tough in the first half before the Aggies (15-5, 4-2 SEC) pulled away in the final 20 minutes.
Sophomore Jordan Lewis led the Tide with 17 points, seven rebounds and a career-high five three-pointers, while senior Meoshonti Knight chipped in nine points. Ten different Tide players scored in the loss.
After trailing 11-3 to begin the game, Alabama put together a 9-4 run to close out the quarter and cut the deficit to three, 15-12. In the second quarter, the Aggies continued to put on the pressure, extending its halftime lead to 35-27 after 20 minutes of action.
In the second half, Alabama came out firing by hitting four of its first five shots to trim the Texas A&M lead to 40-36, however the Aggies responded with a 13-0 run.
A&M held the double-digit advantage in the third quarter and continued to build it in the fourth to prevent a Crimson Tide comeback.
Alabama will play its second consecutive home game when it takes on Vanderbilt Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. CT inside Coleman Coliseum. The game will air live on SEC Network +.
