The former Crimson Tide standout will play on Thursday with partner Vera Lapko
NEW YORK – Alabama women's tennis alumna, Alexa Guarachi, qualified for the doubles main draw of the 2018 US Open with partner Vera Lapko (Belarus) over the weekend. The tandem will begin the tournament by taking on Nicole Gibbs (USA) and Sabrina Santamaria (USA) on Thursday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City with the time to be announced.
This marks the second time this year that Guarachi has played in a Grand Slam tournament, as she and Erin Routliffe fell in the first round of the main draw of Wimbledon in July.
Guarachi is currently ranked as the No. 80 doubles player in the country and became just the third Alabama women's tennis player to qualify for the US Open after Maya Jansen and Routliffe did so in 2015.
