Alabama Ends Rice Invitational with Eight Singles Wins on Sunday

Andie Daniell, Luca Fabian and Ann Selim each went 2-0 on the day
HOUSTON – Senior Andie Daniell, junior Luca Fabian and junior Ann Selim each earned 2-0 records in singles play on the final day of the Rice Invitational on Sunday in Houston, Texas.
No. 70 Daniell first defeated Vanja Klaric (USF), 6-2, 6-0, and then followed up with a straight-set win over Michaela Haet (Rice), 6-3, 6-0. Fabian dominated in her matches today, winning 6-3, 6-1, over Sarai Monarrez-Yesaki (SMU) and 6-3, 6-0, against Isidora Zivkovic (Sam Houston State).
Selim bested Stephanie Belovukovic (Houston), 6-2, 3-6, 10-5, before she pushed past Gabriela Guilarte (Stephen F. Austin), 6-4, 6-2.
After falling in her first match of the day, junior Jacqueline Pelletier bounced back with a 7-5, 6-1, victory over Polina Mutel (Northwestern State). Junior Kimberely Gintrand also lost her opening match on Sunday, but then defeated Ela Iwaniuk (Northwestern State), 3-6, 7-6, 10-3.
Next up for Alabama, Daniell will compete in the ITA Riviera All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., beginning on Saturday, Sept. 29.
