TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing is in Dallas, Texas Friday to face the SMU Mustangs in what will be the Crimson Tide's last regatta of the regular season prior to the Big 12 Conference Championships.
"We are looking forward to racing a very fast team in SMU," UA head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "Both programs have made a jump in speed the past few years and it should be a very competitive dual race."
Originally, the teams were going to race on Saturday, April 27, but due to high winds coming in, the races were moved to Friday evening.
Alabama's Second Varsity 4+ crew will get the racing started at 5:45 p.m. CT, going up against SMU's 2V4+ as well as its Third Varsity 4+ boat. The First Varsity 4+ crews will follow at 6 p.m. CT, followed by the Second Varsity 8+ at 6:15 p.m. CT. Alabama's First Varsity 8+ will wrap up competition at 6:30 p.m. CT.
The Tide will be back in action in two weeks, returning to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Big 12 Conference Championships, May 19.
