Love has been one of the top contributors in the community during his four seasons with the Crimson Tide
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference league office along with the Alabama baseball staff selected redshirt junior Brock Love to represent the Crimson Tide on the league's 2019 Community Service Team, it was announced on Wednesday.
Love has been one of the team's most active members in the community during his time in Tuscaloosa. The junior has put in triple-digit volunteer hours over his four seasons and has made a consistent effort to give his time to service opportunities both with his teammates and on his own. Over his four years with the Crimson Tide, the Gadsden native has taken part in many different community service initiatives, highlighted by his work with the Habitat for Humanity build in the Fall of 2018. The junior has also devoted his time off the field to teaching and playing baseball with the Miracle League of Tuscaloosa.
He has been a major contributor to The University of Alabama's Fellowship of Christian Athletes – an organization that engages coaches and athletes to grow in their faith and sport. In connection with FCA, Love took part in arguably his most significant community service project in regards to time and impact when he spent this past holiday break on a mission trip in Costa Rica, working with Nicaraguan refugees.
For his volunteer efforts during his time at the Capstone, Love earned the University's 2019 "Male Heart of Service" award in April. The honor is given to the Alabama Athletics Department's top male student-athlete for his dedication to volunteering and community service.
The conference names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each member school who gives back to his or her community through superior service efforts.
