Alabama Women’s Tennis Looks Ahead to Upcoming Season After Strong Finish in Regional Rankings

The Crimson Tide finished No. 2 in the ITA Southern Regional Rankings in 2019
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team is turning its attention to the upcoming season, after finishing the 2018-19 year at No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Regional Rankings.
As a team, the Tide finished second among five Southeastern Conference teams in the top-5 regionally after coming off a season where it ended with 18 wins and earned bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Regionally, Alabama had three singles players in the final rankings, including two returners in senior Alba Cortina Pou and junior Moka Ito. Ito was also ranked in the last doubles rankings. Cortina Pou earned a team-best 16-6 singles dual season record and team-best 13-9 doubles record with senior Luca Fabian. Ito ended her first season with the Tide with 14 dual match wins in singles play.
UA returns five of eight players from last year's team, while adding highly touted freshmen in Ares Teixido and Isabella Harvison. Alabama's first fall tournament will be on Sept. 27-29 at the Rice Invitational in Houston, Texas.
