Alabama bounced back by picking up the doubles point against South Alabama
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team dropped its first-round matchup to Yale, 4-2, on Friday afternoon in Montgomery Ala. Following the Crimson Tide (9-2) loss to the Bulldogs (7-2), UA bounced back by winning the doubles point against South Alabama in its second match of the day.
Doubles (vs. Yale)
- The teams did not play doubles due to a weather delay.
Singles (vs. Yale)
- Senior Alba Cortina Pou improved to 10-0 in singles in 2020 after she cruised to a 6-1, 6-4, win against Caroline Dunleavy. The Tide extended its lead to 2-0 when senior Ann Selim earned a 7-6, 6-2 victory versus Raissa Lou.
- The Bulldogs answered by winning the final four matches on their way to the 4-2 win.
Doubles (vs. South Alabama)
- Doubles play started off on the right foot with freshman Sasha Gorchanyuk and Cortina Pou blanking Fujioka/Kohoutova, 6-0. After a Jags win on court three, junior Moka Ito and freshman Isabella Harvison clinched the point with their 6-4 victory over Pasanen/Takanishi on court one.

- The Crimson Tide will finish up its match with South Alabama on Saturday morning at 9 a.m., in Montgomery. In the afternoon, UA will conclude the tournament with another match in the consolation round.
